There are a few problems with the Quinn Rd field as a small scenario field. 1) not enough parking and staging area. scenario folks turn up with a ton of gear. We ususally travel quite some distance and we pay more money for the privelige of playing so we have plethera of gear like: our primary marker, our back up marker, sometimes a back up for that, some of us use a LAW so we have that and all the associated kit, more pods than you can shake a sitck at, tools, harnesses, tactical vests, radios and the list goes on. Basically we try to travel in such a way that unless there is an unfortunate set of bad coincidental faliures we don't miss much action.I've been to Quinn rd several times and each time I had to get there fairly early to get a decent place to set up my stuff, if I didn't want to do it out the back of the jeep and that was just for rec ball. 2) there may indeed not be such a thing as a planned small scenario. That is how would you limit the number of registered players, what do you do about walk ons? As I recall Grant rd had problems in the Christmas scenario with walkons and paint supply--they had a much larger walk on turn out than they anticipated and came up short ofn paint and had to scramble a little, so instead of just two paints on the field, premium and cheap, they had a third that some of us had not seen during orientation and that caused some confusion about legitimate paints... 3) there really isn't enough space to play a scenario at Quinn, honestly I don't think Grant is big enough in it's current configuration because they won't close the off the recball fields (spools, castle to caslte, pallet town and so on). Grant has a ton of woods ball area and is great because of that but it's nice taking the regular fields too--I go back to the old PBUSA days there and miss that full field play that we had as well as the 24 hour format too but what is one to do dirve all the way to harwood and get full of cacti spines? Anyway wht you propse is shutting down everything at Quinne except the air ball and cemetry fields if I read you correctly...that still isn't quite enough to get the job done if you have more than 50 people on each side. You asked for suggestions and comments...I don't want to sound like a negative nancy but I just don't see how it would work out at Quinn. It's a good field and all but just too small to do the deed.
nobody here is exactly what they appear...

Actually, when I was head ref at Quinn, there was discussion by management of running a few scenarios out of the Quinn field. The property is actually much larger than it looks, just under 30 acres if I remember correctly, running all the way to the creek. It is possible to hold a small scenario there, but, unlike @ Grant, it would require the shut-down of rec ball play at the field for the duration of the game. If rec ball is shut down, the air ball field could be moved out of the way temporarily, giving more parking space, and contrary to Beaker's opinion on how much gear you have, you can get away with running out of your car (done it many times with more gear than I needed). There just would not be space for setting up camping areas, but #1 really doesn't do 24 hour games, so that is not a real problem. Feasible if the game didn't get too big that is.

What up "Pimp of WhoVille" lol! If I remember correctly, I don't think Quinn road park is complete. (no pun intended)... i think they will eventually build out more. What ever happened "the road to babylon?"..... And I remember walking over the creek on a bridge...( I thought?) but yeah, the Quinn Rd park is a lot bigger than people think. i think there's a lot of the land still undeveloped. I remember "Yibbie" Ryan Stellar and I gave up on walking back there and headed back out. I was getting tired and it was a good hike.

Boss I never said you couldn't run out of your car but there are many of us that don't like to. I set up a table and chairs just for rec ball so I can lay stuff down without worrying about it--but that's me. Sure there's more space than appears there at Quinn. I too have walked way the heck back in there with Yibbie at the end of the day. However it's not that much. As you said you would have to shut down the rec ball fields entirely to get enough space to maneuver without it degenerating in to a big woods ball game and parking would be an issue as well.
You also concede that it would be a small scenario but again I ask how do you regulate that? You've played enough of these to know you probably get half of your players as walk ons. What do you do with those folks when they show up at the gate and want to play but you've filled your limit? You could do an invitational thing but who do you invite and why? As I said I'm not being a negative nancy here. I like the Quinn rd field they have some very nice areas out there--some of the smaller fields I like even better than what is out at Grant rd but they just don't have the space to make a go of it and not have people mad because they got turned away at the gate or whatever.
